- ‘Annie’ by Year 6
The Year 6 production of, ‘Annie’ was exceptional as all the individual children gelled together perfectly on the night. Well done Eunice who shone in the roll of Annie and Scarlett who was a very convincing Miss Hannigan. There were many wonderful individual performances as well as the whole group singing and dancing which was of a very high standard. Thank you to Miss Holmes and the school team including Miss Morley who taught the incredible dances and Mrs Washington on singing and the incredible scenery and props created with Mrs Watts. The children were amazing - it was like a night in the West End!
- Summer Fair
A massive thank you to Gemma and the Friends for organising a fantastic Summer Fair. It was a beautiful day, and everyone enjoyed the magic show, dancing, singing, games, crafts, stalls and delicious ice creams, snacks, cakes and the very popular candy floss. The Friends managed to raise a whopping £4,600 for the children of Bridgewater and we intend to purchase more interesting and engaging equipment to boost outdoor play at breaks and lunchtimes. Thank you also to our staff, Maria our caretaker, and all the stall holders and families. It’s always great to see past pupils return with smiles on everyone’s faces.
- Website
Chris Elliott from Tapiochre has updated the website giving it a modern, sleek look and it should be easier to move around. Please give us any feedback that may be useful in terms of site development. Thank you
- Celebration of Learning
The Celebration of Learning will be on Monday 14 July 3.30pm – 5.00pm. This provides you with a chance for a quick catch up with the class teacher before they move on to their new classes next academic year.
- Transition Days Next Week
All children will find out on Monday who their new class teacher will be in September ready for their transition day on Tuesday. KS1 children will come home with a sticker to help them prepare for their new class on Tuesday. On the day, all children will come into school as usual and start in their current classrooms before being calmly taken to their new ones.
We always try to keep class changes to a minimum. Where changes are needed, please be assured that each child will have been able to choose at least one or two friends to move up with. We understand that this transition can feel like a big change for some children. It may take time to adjust, and that’s perfectly normal. We will continue to support them as they settle in, helping them build confidence, routines, and connections in their new environment.
And finally, we send our very best wishes to our Year 6 children as they start the transition to secondary school. They are ready for this next step, and we’ll be thinking of them as they begin their exciting new journey.
- Multiplication Times Tables Checks in Year 4
Miss Knight shares that Year 4 did exceptionally well in the Year 4 MTCs this year as follows:
MTC
National Year4 34%
Bridgewater 52%
National Average Score 20.6
Bridgewater Average Score 21.5
Well done Year 4, this will improve the fluency and speed of your calculations and problem solving. To pass you had to get 25 out of 25 under a time pressure of 6 seconds on a computer and some were just one mark off! They were amazing.
- Parent Referral Packs
We are receiving several parent referral packs, including private referrals for the community paediatrician each week and we are unable to process them at the rate that they are coming in. Unfortunately, we will not be able to process any more this term and they will go on the list for September. Mrs Redden will let each individual application know the waiting times involved, which can be up to 8 weeks due to the volume coming in to school.
- Holidays in Term Time
We are aware that there is a trend where families book a four day absence and take an extra adjacent day where the child is marked ill. This is a growing trend and next year we will be making welfare checks to clarify as it is a practice which is unfair to other parents, or we may ask for medical clarification.
- Healthy School Award
Miss Brown has worked hard and gained the Silver Healthy Schools Award for Bridgewater, and we are not far off Gold now. Thank you and well done to all the children and team for working hard on becoming a healthier school.
- Mini Meadows
Reception had a lovely day at Mini Meadows, and everyone coped well with the hot and sticky weather. They particularly loved the greedy sheep and exploring the wonderful brand new play area. A member of the public commented on how lovely, polite and respectful the children were in the play area, which was nice.
- Italian Brainrot
Please read the ParentMail sent regarding this content online.
- Message from Miss Montgomery regarding Mythical Madness book
Our children within Bridgewater OSC have been given an amazing opportunity to use their wonderful imaginations to create a mythical monster.
All children were offered the chance to create a colourful and magical masterpiece that would be published in this unique book.
Under the creative eye of Miss Brack (one of our enthusiastic and artistic members of staff) the children managed to produce an impressive piece of artwork.
The children's creations were released to us in a paperback book; it consisted of an abundance of fun and brightly coloured creatures.
What a fantastic way to share our children's flair and memories!
- Year 5 Cyber Challenge Competition 2025
On Thursday afternoon, ten children in Year 5 who submitted entries in the 2025 Cyber Challenge competition went to Cranfield University for a presentation event. It was a great celebration of everyone's achievements, and they were treated to some guest speakers who gave talks on cyber safety. They were also given a quick tour of some university grounds including the active airfield! This was our first year entering the competition and we look forward to seeing what our Y5 and Y6 children can produce next year!
Have a lovely weekend
